What electronics hobbyist (of a certain age :-) ) didn't grow up with them? The Electronics parts stores that decades ago could be found in every self-respecting city. Walls lined with chests of drawers bearing labels written in pen. Diamond-shaped wooden cabinets containing tube packs of all shapes and sizes. Bins filled with items on sale. Bulging racks with something electronics-related tucked away in every nook and cranny.
It smelled like technology when you walked in there with your meticulously prepared shopping list copied from the Elektuur, Elektor or Radio bulletin. The owner who went through your list at his leisure during his quest through the caverns of his establishment. Proud as a peacock and impatient you left with a paper bag with new parts that had to be tortured with the soldering iron when you got home....
Is miss these stores constructed of brick or concrete. This is one of the reasons I started this webshop, to keep these nostalgic parts on the market. I would like to thank all the owners who once started an electronics parts store for contributing to the passion of many an electronics enthusiast. Especially the last few decades must have been a hard sell to persevere in running the joint in modern times.
